The BizBlog Show #07 - Colin Devroe
The BizBlog Show #07 (MP3 - 9.5Mb - 27min 14sec)
Listen here
On today’s show Colin Devroe, the CTO of 9rules, answers questions I received about the technical side of blogging. What blogging software should be used? Should a custom solution be made? How should security issues be addressed? Colin answers these questions, and shares how he used WordPress to create the current web site for 9rules.
Disclaimer: I am the Community Director for 9rules but I wanted companies to see that expensive solutions are not necessary to achieve a custom affect. Colin also discusses features to look for in a programmer. Colin’s three part series on how he created 9rules the backend for 9rules can be found:
Building 9rules – Part 1
Building 9rules – Part 2

I enjoyed doing the interview. I hope someone else thinks it has some value and can learn from our experiences. I look forward to hearing Mike and Paul’s interviews as well.

Great job! Thomas Hawk is a great example of how negative feedback can affect a company. He wrote about his experience and it spread across the internet. Companies need to understand it’s something that cannot be avoided.
Businesses depend on credentials and that is not necessarily a valid measure of experience or ability to do the job. I thought 9rules used a custom application. I didn’t realize Wordpress could be expanded upon like that. I’m going to have to look into that.
